CloseReview for Advanced Composer by AlpineFox
Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I wrote a review earlier. You know, it would be cool for the "Composition options", especially the "Override Thunderbird default font" option to work without the need of having any of the "Quote header", "Signatures" or "Message templates" features enabled. Right now, you need one of those features enabled for the composition options to work (at least for sure for the default font option and the remove margins option).
I'm trying out a different extension for reply headers:
If Adv. Composer is turned off completely the other extension works without issue.
If Adv. Composer is turned on with all "Features" turn off and all "Composition options" turned on, the other extension works without issue but the composition options in Adv. Composer don't work. (The composition options won't work at all without any of the Adv. Composer features turned on.)
If Adv. Composer is turned on with any of the "Features" turned on (so that the Composition options work), the quote reply indent is impacted (it's conflicting with the other extension).
Even just turning on the "Signatures" feature (leaving the "Quote header" feature turned off) results in Adv. Composer changing something with the reply quote for some mysterious reason.
To reiterate, it seems like to get "Composition options" in Adv. Composer to work, Adv. Composer changes something that also impacts the reply quote (indent size, blockquote color or something else).
It would be cool for the "Composition options" to work more independently from the Adv. Composer Features which currently need to be turned on for the Composition options to work.
I presume if the Composition options would work independently, one could have them working without impacting anything relating to the reply quote, thus resulting in no conflicts with other extensions and use cases.
Tbh if the composition options must be implemented the way they are in Adv. Composer I'd even love to see a separate extension release for just the Composition options but implemented in a way to have minimal interference with the reply quote or anything else. Something like Composition options Lite/light, and have the full version of Composition options remain the way it is implemented in Adv. Composer now.
Again, love your work and the Composition options especially. TB without these Composition options is almost not viable.
Your work is essential.
