This is an essential add-on, especially if you are implementing the GTD system. Thank you to the earlier comment that showed how to make it work. It took me about an hour or so to figure it out, but I got it working. It doesn't seem to be damaging the header pane either - though I do remember seeing that problem before. I fixed it just by adjusting the notary window size.
Here's how to zip up the results after editing the Install.rdf. It won't work if you don't do it exactly like this.
Take the Install.rdf file and the chrome directory (which only contains notary.jar), and put them in a directory "tmp" on your desktop.
Then open a console window, and run the following commands.
cd tmp
zip -r ../notary.xpi *
You will now have a file notary.xpi on your desktop which you can install from the Addons window in Thunderbird.
To create your own collections, you must have a Mozilla Add-ons account.
