CloseReview for Gmail Manager by vid88
Rated 3 out of 5 stars
When I open a Firefox (I'm on 3.5.7), I click on the Gmail Manager icon on the bottom right of the screen, expecting it to pull up a dialog box for me to enter my password to log in. Instead, it brings up the gmail page on a new tab (which I don't understand... it knows I haven't signed into it yet). I have to manually right-click the manager icon and select "Login Selected Account" to enter my password. Maybe it is just messed up for me. But if not, please fix this. It adds far too many steps compared to the previous version and is a great annoyance. After doing so, I am successfully logged in and the number of unread messages displays correctly. However, when I click on the icon again to display those messages in a new tab, it brings me to the Gmail login page telling me that the password entered is wrong (which is incorrect, as I can clearly see that the Gmail Manager has accessed my account to show me the unread messages on the icon). Apparently it's not signing into Gmail for me when I click to view the messages. Might want to fix those problems soon.So yes, I agree that this update is a huge step backwards. Hopefully we can get a work-around soon like we did for a similar problem Gmail Manager had a while back. I really love Gmail Manager and have been using it since I can remember. But, again, the problem might be stemming on my end or might just a bug that needs to be worked out. Anyone else experiencing these problems? You had the manager working perfectly with the last version. It was intuitive and easy to use. The current version performs unexpectedly compared to the previous. Please keep the steps and functions consistent or, failing that, make it simpler. You should never add unnecessary steps.Rating 3/5 because although it does display the e-mail notification count correctly, several (of what I assume are) log-in bugs make it a huge step back from the previous version in terms of usability.
