Does not work at all. By clicking on the close button, the mail client is neither minimized or closed.

It is possible that you use an unsupported version of Thunderbird and/or there is another add-on conflicting with Minimize on Close. If you need help, contact the support email address with more details – the rating feature here is not designed for conversations.
