Memory Fox
Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Every time a new version of Firefox is released, the developers crow about how resource usage is becoming more and more efficient, but all I see are more and more memory leaks. This add-on definitely makes a huge difference.
However, the developer needs to learn how to write in an understandable way. The language used both in the "Options" settings page and in the online documentation is just utterly nonsensical. It's like the author wrote the documentation, then ran every second word through the Microsoft Word thesaurus in an effort to make everything as hard to understand as possible.
To take one random example: "Finally, this method by DLL injection process into Firefox has shown great promise toward limiting or stopping this habitual memory demand." What's wrong with simply saying "this method has cut memory usage"?
And goodness knows what phrases like "an expedient time frame commitment" are supposed to mean. Complicated words are being used wrongly, making it impossible to understand what is being written. Only rarely have I ever seen such useless and meaningless documentation: sorry to be blunt, the plugin author is a truly shocking writer.
Anyway, rant over. The good thing is that the add-on appears to work out of the box. Download the plug-in, but ignore the settings and documentation: trying to understand what's going is likely to give you a massive headache.

JohnC, I hope you realise how arrogant you sound. Developers can't just wave a magic wand and suddenly bring about support for the latest version. If anything, reading your irate emails would only slow him/her down.
I've always found this a useful plugin, so hopefully we'll see 5.0 support coming in the not-too-distant future.
