CloseReview for Proxy Tool by CanteburyGhost
Rated 1 out of 5 stars
This could potentially be a very interesting a FF Add-On, but I really don't like (read -> find very suspicious) a few things:
(1) It is (still) not reviewed by Mozilla.
(2) The JavaScript code in "useragents.js" & "proxytool.js" has been obfuscated, and the source-code is nowhere to be found... [edit] I have now de-obfuscated it, and it seem fine so far...
(3) out of >5500 downloads only 2 has rated it [in the last 2 m.], one which seem to be a "friend" of the author.
[edit] Strangely, after that comment, in less than 4 days, there have suddenly been 35 more "reviews", although the lack of fantasy of the actual reviewers are stunning...
(4) There is no telling (at the moment) if the "free" proxies are really to be trusted, as it is unclear how they were obtained. Likewise can be said about the web site of "proxylist.co" itself.
(5) Your life should not depend on this add-on, as I suspect that every time you go to a new site, "proxylist.co" will use this new IP to get some of the the new information that is shown when yo hoover above the "H" icon...
BUGS!
(a) It does NOT save your last settings, if you have enabled "randomization" of User Agent or Referer.
(b) The "settings" are unclear and too much limited. "Clear all cookies on every new proxy." ??? -- I don't want it to clear ALL my cookies. The cookie container should be separate for each proxy! (And my original ones should be put back after proxy change.)
(c) It is wrongly stated that you can set your "own" referer. You can NOT, you have to choose one.
I give this a 1 star until I can get some feedback on these comments!
