With the new era of IMAP focused mail sync it brings both good and also bad.
Bad being if someone hacks you account and deletes your emails chances are your provider won't chime it help you out with a backup.
Batch copy works really easy by right clicking on the IMAP account and choosing Batch Copy, it then works in the background looking for any new emails in your folders and then backing them up to a local folder in thunderbird.
The only issue I had with this addon was when I got rid of one of my emails and wanted to also get rid of the local copy/backup as there was no option to do so, I contacted the developer and he was quick to reply and helpful.

I was a happy user of Batchcopy until my thunderbird got updated to version 24.0 and now batchcopy isnt working anymore, whenever I start Batch Copy, all I get is the message "Searching for new messages..." and it stays that way, nothing happens for hours, no activity, I dont know where to post for assistance hence posting here, appreciate if you can help me out please.

This needs a sync facility as it's a pain to have to delete messages on the local folders as well as the imap account.

So far, I think this very much. That said, I cannot find on my hard drive where the database is stored.
Now if I could just print an entire folder to PDF like I used to so in Eudora. Sigh, ...
