Multiple Addon Deactivator
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Hi there,
I haven't had a chance to test this, as I'm not running FF 4 or higher as yet but I was wondering if this will work under 3.6*?
I'd LOVE to find something like this that works well for that series of the browser but am still searching at the moment.
Do you have any potential plans to make it, or your addon update checker, backward compatible? I know that the code difference might make this a formidable task, but it can't hurt to inquire. :-)
At any rate, this looks great and it'll be an essential install when I am ablke to get enough of my 3.6* addons working under FF 6* and up.
Cheers,

Browser Backgrounds
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Hi there,
For those of you who want this to function as your home page, therefore placing the images from your selected album on screen each time your Home button is clicked on the NAV bar, try the following:
Open your Firefox options and, under the General tab, insert the following line as your Home Page:
chrome://browserbackgrounds/content/bb.html
This works great for me and each time I click Home, the browser displays one of the pictures from my album.
In addition, you still get the functionality of clicking New Tab and having one of the pics from the same album appear.
I came across this when I unloaded the New Tab which contained one of the images and its name changed from Untitled to its location which was exactly what I pasted above. :-)
Hopefully, this will give some of you what you're after.
As far as changeing web page backgrounds, you're going to be looking more at Stylish or Greasemonkey for that.
The developer gets full marks from me on this as I used it in conjunction with the Disney - Cars persona (for the header/footer and found at getpersonas.com) and a Lightning McQueen wall (for the Browser Backgrounds large center image and found at the official Disney Cars 2 site) to create an awesome browser interface that has my 3 year old son smiling from ear to ear every time we use the computer to browse his favourites.
That's worth 100 stars. :-)
Many thanks Baris!
Cheers,
Rick
Memory Fox
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Greetings,
I've been using Memory Fox since its initial release and have never had any problems with my system becoming sluggish as a result of it having been installed.
Furthermore, allowing it to run with All Processes enabled has helped a great deal when the non "tech savvy" members of my family have had more windows open simultaneously than anyone has a legal, or at least moral, right to have open. :)
There seems, without being anal enough to go chasing down commit statistics in Task Manager, to be an improvement in other applications ability to play nice with each other when over half of my system's 2 gigs of RAM is in use.
So, in spite of all the nay saying, I've got to take my hat off to the developer for his dedication to the project. I might also add that if you send him e-mail requesting support you will definitely receive a reply as he is good to his word and very courteous as well. :)
Well done and I look forward to seeing what the new 7.52 has up its sleeve. I'll send you an e-mail as soon as my 3 year old stops demanding so much of my time. ;) Version 8.0 may be out by then. )
All the best.
Cheers,

Stylish-Custom_OLD
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
HI there,
Still a tremendous fan of what this adds to the functionality of Stylish.
I'm running FF 3.6.18 and the new Stylish update, 1.2, breaks your addon.
The add-ons manager shows the message that Stylish-Custom requires additional items.
Naturally, this leaves it disabled. :-(
Is there a quick fix for this, .i.e. RDF edit, or do you have a compatability update pending?
If it won't be soon, I'll downgrade Stylish to get your extension working once again.
Yup, it's that good. :-)
Thanks again for all your hard work here and on Userstyles.org.
Cheers,

Hi there!
First, I'd like to say that I've been using this for a long while now and love the extra visual flair that it gives to Firefox I look forward to seeing what's "coming down the pipe" with respect to the future development of this extension. :)
However, I'm having a tiny problem with the most recent version of this extension ( 0.2.8 ).
I'm using the NASA Night Launch theme and the bookmark toolbar icons are yellow rather than the default gray. This change has only come about since the 0.2.8 and is not present in the previous version. It's not a big deal, but the yellow takes away from the greyscale appearance of the theme.
Is there a way of fixing this?
So far, the only cure I can find is to toggle the icons off. That, of course, nullifies the benefit of having your extension in the first place.
If this can't be done easily, I'll live with it since what the extension brings to the table is worth the hassle of the visual dissonance. :)
BTW, I'm running FF 3.6.13 using XP SP3. I doubt this is OS specific but I figured you might want that info.
I look forward to the next release of this great extension. :)

EAVE
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Hi again,
Still finding this to be "the" convenience add-on for Firefox. :)
Would it be possible for you to incorporate checking for updates for the addons which Mozilla is now marking "This addon has not yet been reviewed by Mozilla"?
These addons, which are experimental in status but are not marked as such, are not currently trackable using EAVE and I'd love it if that were possible.
Of course, I'd love it if we could track non-experimental (public) add-ons as well but we've already covered the server load issue in my previous message. ;) That said, should you decide to add that, we'd all have your back. :)
Also wondered about a couple other possibilities...
Is it possible to add the option of sorting the list of tracked add-ons by title, version or update?
In addition, and more importantly, is it possible to offer a way of backing up/restoring the list in case items are deleted inadvertently due to Mozilla server errors?
I've had it happen that an add-on's page is "not found" for one reason or another and EAVE interprets this as though the add-on no longer exists and drops it from the list of tracked add-ons. If this occurs with multiple add-ons you can lose a huge chunk of your list and have to reconstruct it. The only way I've found to prevent that from occurring, short of restoring all changes to the list, is to enter task manager and kill the Firefox process so the changes to the database are not permanent. I've had to do this on a couple of occasions when the kids closed the information dialog after the tracking update had completed without realizing what they were doing (you know how teens wil click anything to get back to what they were doing faster) and then exited Firefox before I could reset the deletions. Bingo, instant need to recreate the list of about 100 add-ons... ARGH!
Anyway, these would be wonderful to have available to the end user so I thought I'd mention them.
Thanks again for this fantastic add-on and keep up the great work!
Cheers!

This is a GREAT addon!
I particularly like the fact that you can have it check for the newest update on the "View all versions" page, something that neither Update Notifier, for non experimental updates, nor Firefox's built in update check, do NOT do.
This leads me to ask the following question... wish list style...
Would you consider modifying EAVE so that it would check for updates ALL addons, both experimental and non-experimental, on the version page?
This would be a tremendous time saver as the non experimental addons must be checked individually on their respective versions pages. To be honest, I don't understand why this isn't done to begin with as you've done with EAVE.
I would ask to have some of the new Beta updates included as well but it appears that you have to be logged in to download them or they will fail.
Also, I've found that attempts to install some versions of addons which fail with the message :"Add-on not found!" can be remedied by redirecting the search to the "versioncheck.addons.mozilla.org" site. Logging in here with the same username and password that is used on the normal "addons.mozilla.org" site and attempting the install will often circumvent this problem and get rid of potential download error messages in the add-ons manager during installation.
Naturally, if this error were to occur with an addon update that EAVE checked for, the install would fail.
(For example, on the versioncheck site, EAVE can be found under "https://versioncheck.addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59266".)
Would it be possible to include an option to allow update checks that point to this site rather than the main Mozilla addons site to avoid this problem? I had this problem for a while with Memory Fox and also with some of the Virtus themes such as Aero Fox and Revelation and using the versioncheck site proved to be the solution.
All this said, this is a fantastic addition to Firefox and I can't imagine what would be "better and simpler" than this. In that regard, I too, am all ears. ;-)
Well done!
10 out of 5 stars from me! :-)
