Review for Signature Switch by Toad Hall
Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Using Thunderbird 78.3.2. This update to version 2.0.0 did derailed me to begin with and needs a bit of tweeking. Previous versions were so easy to understand.
The 'Signature Switch' button on toolbar was added to far right of toolbar after the 'Attach' so it was easy to not see and had to be moved to a more suitable location on toolbar.
'Switch on' green button does nothing.
In Options:
'Add new Signature' had me completely baffled. No idea what all the icons mean. Icons are useless without Text. Please include Text with icons.
The 'arrow' buttons do nothing and do not allow me to import or upload. No idea what they are for anyway.
No idea how to connect to html files already created using Thunderbird 'Write' window as no functionality provided to import a file. Must be a reason.
The Import button is greyed out. So I presume you have create signatures then export in order to import. Useful if you need to copy between computers or create a backup, but obviously no use for importing html files.
Update: this new addon has been completely rewritten. Now the addon is a pure MailExtension; meaning it has limited access to resources from the outside. So...no you cannot get it to 'import' anything you have previous created within Thunderbird Write window and saved as HTML file. BUT you can copy and paste the content of previous created html files.
Click on 'Add new signature'
Click on 'pencil' icon
You can open your previously created html files with Notepad, copy all the content and then paste it into the 'HTML' section
Give same name as previous, so you don't get confused and click on Save'
You should see those options in the drop down list, just like previous version making it easy to select.
I offer help on Support forum, so usually try to get to grips with addons with the intent of advising on Support Forum if user has an issue or just wants to know how to get the addon to work. Please support the author with donations so continued support can be maintained.
