Finally found the add-on to do the job. It is called ReFwdFormatter. While I would prefer to have the capability as an option in SmartTemplate4, the developer does not agree that the feature is within the scope of the add-on.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.8.0).

Why should SmartTemplate4 support an function which is out of the sense of SmartTemplate4?
SmartTemplate4's job is to change quote headers (templates) only and not to modify the quote bars!
At moment we think about to have an option to work with external Templates eg. something like ExternalTemplateLoader Addon
-> this is 100% the same sense and for SmartTemplate4 perfect ;-)
