I use this extension hundreds of times every single day. It's a great extension and I don't know what I would do without it. However, I would like to request the functionality to organize the Custom Tags into separate menus. Either by being able to create sub-menus or completely separate menus. Would this be possible?

This remains one of the most used extensions for me, and one that is very useful for pasting html code on sites such as Freerepublic.com
As re backing up, sorry to be so long to respond, but i do see the bbcodextra you mentioned in about:config, and its scripts, but which i also see in prefs.js, so if i just copy that it should work.
What i had done is copy the whole profile to a new one, which worked. Thank God for FF and your help to make it even better.

Such a great Add-on, and just want to thank the developer for all the time he has saved me!
But please Please please do this:
• Create a button that I can put on the add-on bar, vertical sidebar, or navigation bar. My right click list has gotten quite long, and frankly, a button would work a lot better for me. I just want to use the BB-Code Editor as a bar.

It would be nice if the dev updated it though, it's been a looong time. Import/Export of custom tags would also be much appreciated.

If you use forums, particularly ones without an inline BBCode editor, this is essential, and, as a bonus, it's not something you can get in Google Chrome -- that is, this extension offers Firefox features that are beyond Chrome's ability to provide via extensions. Also, even if your forum of choice has an inline editor, maybe it just has bold and italic, link and picture; they seldom support spoiler tags and strike-out. You can add those manually. Also good for Reddit formatting (if you have RES, you can't post links, because the RES developer hasn't figured out how to add that feature, although it's very easy to add here).

This addon is still very good, but it needs a built in function for changing Font Colors .. that would be a very nice addition. Perhaps for the next update by the developer.

First off, @bruceb: You can add any customized code. Tools > Options > Extensions > BBCodeXtra > Options > Custom tags then add them.
I do have a suggestion though. I would LOVE to be able to import/export settings. I use several computers and Firefox's browser sync doesn't sync settings. I could keep a copy of the settings in dropbox and quickly upload it to any computer.
Many thanks though! This has been one of my favorites for years. I cannot live without it.

This is really great, I'd love to give you a perfect score, but I only do that for add-ons that are perfect. There's a couple of additions that would make this a whole lot better still.
• Make it so that I have the option to turn off the "Clipboard" options. Very useful, but with the current layout, I'd prefer to not have it in the list.
• Create a button that I can put on the add-on bar, vertical sidebar, or navigation bar. My right click list has gotten quite long, and frankly, a button would work a lot better for me.
• Allow users to create customs for bbcode, or other, so that bbcode customs can be accessed directly from the bbcode list, and html customs can be accessed directly from it's list. (I don't think xhtml should have customs; I'm pretty sure it's a higher standard)
The lack of a button is the number one thing that's keeping me from saying this is close enough to perfect.

Real time saver, just what I was looking for!
Let's you "paint" text and quickly BBCode wrap it.

I really miss your add-on when using Opera.
I guess this means I love your work and will finally take a moment to rate this great extension that I have been using in Firefox for ages! :)

Great addon but 2 small problems prevent me from giving 5 stars:
*For some reason deleting a custom tag is not that easy.It simply does not dissapear from the list. One has to manually reset it's value and set the number of custom tags to corrent value in about:config to fix this.
*When selecting a tag and clicking move up or move down then the tag is deselected after clicking the move button so moving takes way more clicks then nessesary.

Hallo!
ich nutze BBCode Extra schon sehr lange und oft! es ist ein gutes und hilfreiches Addon! nun im neuen Firefox 4 fehlt mir eine Funktion im Kontexmenü! "Link Speichern in z.B. BBCode" kann man das nach stellen bzw. einfügen?

This add-on is a must for those that frequent forums where the staff refuse to code BBcode shortcut buttons into their posting forms. I especially love that I can hide the menus I don't need and even add my own custom tags, if I want to. I couldn't thank the developer more. =0)
