In case you have trouble figuring out how to use it, as I did: Go into the Options for the add-on. Choose the "Sort folders" tab at the top. Make an appropriate choice in the first drop-down field. Then (and this is the part I had trouble with): instead of the default "Use Thunderbird's default" in the second drop-down field, you must choose "Use a manually defined sort function." Only then will the green up and down arrows appear. I must credit https://diaryofdennis.com/2014/01/05/how-to-manually-sort-thunderbird-accounts/ for getting me unstuck.

Can't install it to Thunderbird 52.2.1.

[WORKAROUND]
Install Thunderbird 45.7.0
Install this add-on
Install Thunderbird 52.2.1
works fine

Couldn't get the highly rated Folderpane tools to work and found this add on. Works great.

It worked nicely for a while. Then, all of a sudden it made several of my main folders, sub-folders of the Trash folder and it won't let me move them out from there.

I really love this add-on and I truly thought that it had stopped working with the installation of Thunderbird 52.2.0. As it turns out, the issue I was having was caused by something else, so I am back in business. Thanks to the author for his hard work on this add-on.

Reordering accounts was the feature I needed and it works great and allows me to put RSS feed on top.

There was a strong wish that the developer has added a feature for change of icons on folders.

I was looking for sorting folders and subfolders within a folder to sort by creation date.
Looks like a good add-on, but not what I'm looking for...still I'm giving 4 stars as it does as advertised.
I will install again once above is feature is implemented.

Until I set up an "All Inboxes" folder, I never cared much about account order. My most important was the first I had, so I just lived with it.

This extension does exactly what it needs to do. It is a bit strange that you have to restart to have certain things take effect, but it works great. Thanks for a great extension.

Can't understand why the makers of Thunderbird which is a good e-mail package don't allow you to move folders by drag and drop. Is anybody at Firefox listening.
Yes you can use the add on "Manually move Folders but what a total pain, Mozilla--wake up!

This is a feature I want it very much. Unfortunately it failed to install "because it has not been verified." How do I get around the check?

I recently moved my email accounts, so I added some new servers, and am about to delete the old ones. I used this plugin to re-sort the accounts rather than doing it the about:config way, and it worked great, except for one thing...

I had moved my "Feeds" (RSS) folder to the end, after "Local Folders," but this plugin moved "Local Folders" back to the end, and in its UI, "Local Folders" is locked there. I want my feeds separate from my email, at the bottom of the list, but this extension makes that impossible, because of what seems to be an arbitrary UI choice.

Once I finish my server move, I'll have to move my accounts around manually and avoid using this plugin, so it doesn't break my sorting again.
