I too was affected by Google disabling v1 of Provider::GData API for Calendar yesterday. Did you submit the Postbox version of your plugin as well, as per the link below?

http://www.postbox-inc.com/extensions

If you did, do you plan to update the Postbox version to use a newer version of the API? Please reply here if you have a minute. Thank you for your hard work on this calendar integration.

Updating to 1.0.2 first read the FAQ and everything will work perfect.

It seems Google fixed the bug in Calendar API that led many users to downgrade to 0.32.or 0.25. Like user LionHe (see today's earlier review), I downgraded to 0.25 to avoid this bug. The annoying behavior returned today. The solution I found to today's problem (like user LionHe), is to upgrade to version 1.0.2 and restart Thunderbird. Cheers, -Bruce

Hello Philipp,
I use your Add-on in old TB10.0.12 ESR version. So for me it is only possible to use your Add-on in version 0.13 or 0.18pre. Both are unable to connect to google calendar since today (known issue with disabled old API from google side). May it be possible to solve the problem also for old TB10 ESR?
Otherwise I have to stop calendar function in TB...
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately the Provider uses features of the Mozilla platform that are only available in Thunderbird 24 and up. Isn't there a chance that you can upgrade to at least Thunderbird 24? Its also an ESR version and contains various improvements to security and stability.

About a month ago I downgraded to keep this tool working. Today, when it stopped working, I upgraded to the latest version. On first restart, the calendars would not reconnect. But I closed Thunderbird completely, a second time.

When I relaunched and opened Lightening, the google login showed up for each of my google calendars. Reentering my password for each account, everything reconnected smoothly. No need to remove or reinstall any individual calendars. It appears to now be accessing the calendar through the googleapi - a more robust long term solution.

What I love about this add-in is that it lets me view and mange all four of my Google calendars together. Scheduling an event on any of them is a simple drop down selection. Attendees can be added from any of my contact lists - it reintegrates a complex business world very nicely.

Everyone who uses this app to keep their business affairs together should thank the developer with a contribution. Let's encourage him to keep up the great work!

Today 17 november Google dropped support for an old Google calendar API. I was using provider version 0.25 with lighting 2.6.6 with thunderbird 24.4.4 and all of my calendar did not work: a popup asking for a password was continuously appearing.
I deleted all calendars, removed old version, restarted thunderbird as requested, installed the current version, added again my google calendar. I was required a password and the verification code (as my account is protected by the two steps verification). Now everything works again.

I therefore suggest to people complaining about non working calendar to try following the same procedur I did.

About a month ago I downgrade to 0.32 to be able to continue using my Google calendars from Thunderbird. Now 0.32 stop working.

But I just upgrade to 1.0.2, delete non working calendars, add a new one, allow the extension to access my Google account and now it is working again.

I hope this will still working...

I also have the tasks synchronized :-)

keeps asking for passwords to calendars today out of the blue - what do we do to fix this - we are all using this on Postbox.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.2).

I'd love to find a solution for Postbox, but I fear that it might be using a too old version of the Mozilla Platform. Version 0.32 no longer works since it was using an old API, and version 1.0.2 only works on Gecko 24 and up. I believe Postbox 3 is using Gecko 7.

I was nearly put off by some reviews in November 2014 saying that it wasn't working. There may have been some issues with a change in google but the latest version is working for me.
I write the calendar events from my laptop to google so my smartphone so sync with google so I have my appts on the move.

I've used this for over 5 years and rely upon it. It is brilliant but since recent changes it doesn't work. I think it is google's fault so I've only marked this as 3 star. Please fix it so I can give it 5 stars and don't have to start killing kittens.

It is a great add-on and I have used it for years. Unfortunately it no longer works for me. It stopped working after the 1.02 update. I removed the add-on and account and then set it up, but it stopped working again a day later. I really hope that the dev can fix this issue as it is the only add-on of its kind and is an incredible time-saver when it works. (At the moment I have reinstalled an older, stable version, wich works fine, but look forward to the day I can upgrade to a current version).

letzte funktionierende Version ist 0.32! Diese funktioniert weiterhin wunderbar.

++ Die Versionen 1.0.1 und 1.0.2 sind nicht zu gebrauchen! ++
ACHTUNG für dieses Add-on die automatische Aktualisierung ausschalten, sonst installiert er sich jedesmal wieder die nicht funktionierende.

Stopped working the last couple of days, however it looks like it's been updated and requires you to delete your calendars and add them back again. Seems to work again now, with an updated system - hope it is stable (not sure from other comments below).

Has been a good system for using Google Calendars with Thunderbird for a long time, so hoping that continues with this update.

As of today's update, the google calendar provider doesn't seem to be working any more.

Edit: You have to delete all of your google calendars and then add them back to Thunderbird.

I used this addon for a long time and it recently added task synchronization support too. But now it doesn't allow me to directly add my google calendar using "New Calendar -> On the Network -> Google Calendar", because it conflicts with the other addon "Thunderbirthday"!
There are 2 solutions:
1. Disable thunderbirthday, Add your calendars, Reenable Thunderbirthday when finished.
or
2.What Shelku said:
2.1. New Network Calendar
2.2. Format = iCalendar (ICS), Location = Private address in ICAL format (NOT XML FORMAT)
2.3. Restart TB
2.4. This addon will automatically detect your readonly ICS calendar and will ask if you want to upgrade it to a r/w google calendar

I've been using this for years and love it!
Lately I've been having more trouble with it sometimes not showing anything from my calendar. I also can't add my Google Calendar directly because it doesn't let me click OK to finish creating it - I can only add it as ICS and then let Thunderbird upgrade it:
1) New Network Calendar
2) ** iCalendar (ICS) ** mode (with XML link from Google Calendar)
3) Restart Thunderbird
4) Click to upgrade the calendar
