FTR, the version from http://majkl.bluemonk.org/tb/mailredirect-0.7.4-tb3-20100708.xpi works with TB3.1.6 (Win XP SP2).

Thats the plugin I was looking for. I want to use it to send my emails to a backup account. is it possible to add the function as a filter to all incoming mails?
Keep up the good work!

At http://majkl.bluemonk.org/tb you can DOWNLOAD the xpi.
But you can copy whole path http://majkl.bluemonk.org/tb/mailredirect-0.7.4-tb3-20100708.xpi to the "Filename" field of add-on install dialog (Thunderbird - Tools - Addons - Extensions - Install) - TB will download it directly. (Matt's URL works too when installing by this way.)

Sorry majkl, too cryptic for me. As far as I know, I need to download the file mailredirect-0.7.4-tb3-20100708.xpi to my system. Then I can use TB Tools to install it. Using Matt's URL will not let me save the file on my PC.

When I install it under TB 3.1.2. it stops because of incompatibility with FIREFOX 3.6.8 (???)
Is it possible - any upgrade?
(I tried with upgrade adress of matt of course)

looks like you can get a TB3-compatible version of this add-on here:

I have been using this excellent package for years under previous versions, but it does not appear to have been updated for 3.0.6 of Tb which is what Ubuntu 10.4 ships with. Is there any chance of an update?

i agree with carlos and would recomment one normal installation package and one installation package with adons allready pre-installade , this would make the standard installation not too big and complicated, but for advanced users much easier, because the need of installaing all ad ons manually would not exist anymore.

Using the version referred to earlier
mailredirect-0.7.4-tb3-20100708.xpi
The originators name and email address is corrupted on the redirected email - the redirected email has the in the From address the name of the originator and the email address of the person who did the redirect
Ie the function is acting as a forward not asa redirect.
If the ultimate recipient of the redirect email then tries to reply to the email it is replied to the email address of the person who redirected it.
This was on latest TB running on Mac OSX latest version.

Works exactly as advertised!
One caveat: the download on mozilla.org (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/downloads/latest/550/addon-550-latest.xpi?src=addondetail) downloaded mail_redirect-0.7.4-mz+tb, which does not work with TB 3.1.1.
I downloaded the .xpi from the URL in one of the reviews (http://downloads.mozdev.org/mailredirect/mailredirect-0.7.4-tb3-20100708.xpi) and that installed and worked OK w/ TB 3.1.1.

Having problems with http://downloads.mozdev.org/mailredirect/mailredirect-0.7.4-tb3-20100708.xpi
to get it run under Fedora 13 with thunderbird-3.1.1-1.fc13.i686: After having enabled Mail Redirect, sometimes thunderbird will not start. I can't say why.

0.7.4 works fine with tb3.1
open .xpi with winrar and edit install.rdf
and change the line maxversion to
maxVersion="3.1.*"

TB3.1:
There is a version available on http://mailredirect.mozdev.org
Search for the link named
"Mail Redirect Extension 0.7.4 for Thunderbird 3.x".
Do not try to download v0.7.5 - this is the old TB2.x version!

I went to http://mailredirect.mozdev.org/ and saw that the download link is to a file dated 2010/06/06 and it does work on TB3.1, even if they have not changed the version number.

FYI - T-Bird 3.1 is reporting that Mail Redirect is not compatible and will be disabled on installation. I have backed off the upgrade as a result. MozDev appears to have a 3.0 compatible version. I have sent an e-mail to one of the developers who has been responsive to this kind of thing in the past. I use this regularly for business needs so it is a "must" for me. Hope it will be updated soon.

A Thunderbird 3 compatible version can be found at http://mailredirect.mozdev.org/. Not sure why this isn't mentioned in the addon description. Probably because the whole addons site is a royal mess with regards to TB 3.

Very good! What would also be really useful (to me, at least) is to be able to add a "Reply-to:" for the redirected mail so that I would receive a copy of whatever response was sent to the sender of the original message.

It's great. Very useful.
It would be cool to have it be included as a filtering action, as well. That way, Thunderbird could automatically redirect emails based on specified conditions.

mail_redirect-0.7.4-mz+tb.xpi does not work in mac thunderbird 3.0.4. Could you fix it?
