I need this to block auto play AND block buffering. Unfortunately it doesn't always work. you must update it frequently base on users comment. not only making an add on and leave it without updating !!!
This user has 2 previous reviews of this add-on.If you NEED something to work, you should, at the very least, be polite to ask for it. This is review system, not defect reporting system. If anyone is reporting errors here, they are doing it the wrong way.
FYI, I build this extension out of my free time. If anyone reports an error, I have asked them the details but no-one ever replies. If anyone thinks that there is any problem, they should be able to write down steps to reproduce it. If it does not reproduce and I am only left with words like "does not work sometimes", then I am sorry, but that problem won't be fixed.

I hit a website today that tried to play 7 videos at once! It pissed me off so I went looking for a solution. I installed this, changed my YouTube settings to html5 and then hit that same site again to test it. It worked. Fantastic.
Note: go here and opt in...https://www.youtube.com/html5
When you are done, here is a test site...

If the videos don't auto-play, you got it right.

An unreliable Add-on.
Seriously. You took all that effort to put 3 words only? how is that gonna reliable for me or any other user?

I need this to block autoplay AND block buffering. Unfortunately it doesn't always work. In fact I'm not sure if it works at all.

Thanks, stops autoplaying at least, now it would be nice if you could find a way to load the video but guarantee it starts paused so that the video won't play but will be buffered.

Nice! But it's don't prevent video to start. It's just stop it almost immediately after start and stop downloading.

Sorry about my post below, I was wrong. The problem is rather that after I click on the play button of the addon, it does nothing, but maybe that's becouse some incompatibilities with other addons I use...

Upgraded to the HTML trial on YT, only to learn my stop-autoplay didn't work.
Google sent me here, and five seconds later, the problem was fully resolved!
A must-have!

Thank you for making this extension. However, it stopped working a few days ago. I suspect Youtube changed something in the way videos are served. I hope this is fixable.
[update] 0.2.1 works for me. Thanks, that was fast. 5 stars. [/update]
v 0.2.1 has been uploaded and awaiting review. and plz give it a 5-star :)

This is a serious sanity-preserver. Google are really failing at usability these days, and YouTube is no exception in their vast empire. I, like many (many) others, open videos in background tabs to view at my leisure -- and with awful old Flash, I can just use the excellent FlashBlock to prevent autoplay. But with the nicer plugin-free HTML5 videos, YouTube's disregard for user choice shines through and all videos start playing. This addon does exactly what it says on the tin.

Works as described. Not the prettiest extension, but does exactly what it's supposed to.

Thank you! Automatically playing videos made Youtube a minefield. But this great restartless extension worked immediately.

Great FF add-on!
Needed to restart in first use;
In Youtube, sometimes it plays only sound, so it needs to reload the page 3 times to start video+sound;
Another times we can't see any video from YT, because the screen keeps dark and we need to see in another browser.

FF 15.0.1, StopTube 0.1.0
Works for me. YouTube HTML5 videos do not load until click in the box where the video will be.
Nicely complements Flashblock.
Author: Have you considered releasing a Greasemonkey version of this?
Good work, and thank you.

Switched to HTM5 Youtube, looked for an autoplay blocker. This is the only option. Unfortunately this doesn't work. Videos load and start playing immediately. What a shame.
