Thank you so much for this useful extension! It works fine on my TB 13 on Linux.

I'm giving Mail Redirect 5 stars for my experience with it on my laptop, where it runs like a dream. I have been unable to install it on my PC, however.
Both the laptop and PC have the latest Thunderbird, 13.0.1, auto-updated. When I try to install Mail Redirect on T'bird on the PC, however, it says "Mail Redirect could not be installed because it is incompatible with version 13.0.1."
The only difference between these two machines is that my laptop is running Vista Home and the PC is running WinXP Pro SP3.
If the problem is the operating system, why doesn't it say so? This is really frustrating.
Please advise.
Hi Bluejay99,
Thanks you very much for your 5 stars!
Mail Redirect version 0.7.6.11 should work independent of your OS for Thunderbird up to version 14.*. Are you sure you right-clicked the .xpi and downloaded it instead of left-clicking it and installing it in Firefox? You can also drag the .xpi directly from Firefox to Thunderbird's Add-ons Manager tab.
Hope that helps,
Onno

Very useful module. You could download the version compatible with Thunderbird 3.x at this url: http://mailredirect.mozdev.org/.

while add-on installs without any problems and appears in the GUI there is a problem - the email that was selected for redirection is not displayed in the add-on's window.
the relevant part of jsconsole.log says:
21. [JavaScript Error: "identityElement.selectedItem is undefined" {file: "chrome://mailredirect/content/mailredirect-compose.js" line: 599}]
22. clearing mstate
23. [JavaScript Error: "uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIObserverService.removeObserver]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://mailredirect/content/mailredirect-compose.js :: RemoveOfflineObserver :: line 2067" data: no]"]
i will be grateful for a fix, thanks

Wonderful addon for former Eudora users who are always in a hurry.
@leilabd and @electronutsie: Use a combination of MailRedirect and SendFilter. Works perfectly for me.

I find this addon very useful and was really pleased to see the links to the updated version for use with Thunderbird 7. In answer to the query about using the addon in a filter, I don't know if you can use Mail Redirect but there is another addon that will do a redirect in a filter, it's called RedirectFilter.

Thank you very much for this add-on. Is it possible somehow to make Mail Redirect appear in the Message Filters/Perform these actions menu?

Get it from http://mailredirect.mozdev.org/installation.html - mailredirect.xpi works with Thunderbird 7 but don't open it; instead:
Download it to your disk (right click on mouse to save on hdd).
Then open Thunderbird and its Add-On-Manager. Then click on downloaded xpi.- file on your disk just once and put/moove it via drag & drop to the Add-On-Manager TB. That was the only way it worked for me using TB 7.xx !

An excellent add-on that I could not live without. V0.7.6.6. continues to work on the new V8 Beta channel.

V0.7.6.6 worked for me today: TB 7.01. Windows 7 home premium. Downloaded as described by xenshi. Thanks both.

And it works out of the box without any editing of files.
But one has to grab the Installer from the "Add-on-Homepage" (http://mailredirect.mozdev.org).
Keep up the good work ,-)

Again doesn't work since TB 7, and I don't mean just turn off compatibility checking... it actually doesn't work.

This is a nice add-on, it works perfectly whenever I need to redirect e-mails.
As mentioned previously, you have to download the latest version (for Thunderbird > 2.x) from http://downloads.mozdev.org/mailredirect/mailredirect.xpi (see http://mailredirect.mozdev.org/ for more information). The current version (Mail Redirect 0.7.6.4) is officially compatible with Thunderbird 3.0 - 5.0.
Workaround for Thunderbird 6.0:
Take the latest mailredirect.xpi from mozdev.org (see above), unpack this zip archive and edit the file install.rdf from this archive. In between the lines surrounded by the tag "<em:targetApplication>" find the entry below the comment "<!-- Thunderbird -->" and change the line
<em:maxVersion>5.0.*</em:maxVersion>
into:
<em:maxVersion>6.0.*</em:maxVersion>
Pack the files again into a zip archive named mailredirect.xpi and install this from Thunderbird. This works for me, without much surprise, as Thunderbird 6.0 is mostly a security update. Of course, I cannot guarantee that nothing goes wrong when simply changing the maxVersion without adapting the add-on.

This add-on works very well and saves a lot of hassle, as mentioned by other reviews. FYI, the version on the project's home page has been updated to work with Thunderbird 5.

Would love to use this add-on, but is there a version compatible with Thunderbird 3.1.10? I get the Redirect button, but when I try to use it, no mail is added to the "Following mails will be redirected" list and subsequently, I cannot resend anything. I already tried the version that supposedly works with Thunderbird 3.1.09. Did it really stop working with .10?

This is a wonderful extension that is always the first extension I install when reinstalling Thunderbird. Unfortunately the current version isn't compatible with Thunderbird 3.1.9. Here is how to make it compatible:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Editing_an_add-on_to_change_its_compatibility
I followed the instructions, and everything seems to be working fine. Good luck!

Great Addon. I've been using it for roughly 4 years and it saves me a lot of hassle. When I forward an email often people reply to me and not the attached forwarded email and this addon helps me avoid the confusion entirely.
I got version 0.7.6.1 from http://mailredirect.mozdev.org/
and it has since automatically updated itself to version 0.7.6.2 :-P
