This plugin does not work at all in version 24.6.0!!! What a waste of my time.

I'm using TB 24.4.0 and was easily able to use this to export my filters. I was a bit confused by the lack of a file type during the export process but figured out that the output is just a simple text file. Then I was able to find out that the filters used by TB are in the file msgFilterRules.dat in your Local Folders directory. It's quite easily edited or copied to another computer so the Export/Import function isn't strictly needed. Thanks for it though anyway.

If you are using newer versions of thunderbird, you need to hit the ALT key to bring up the classic menu, and then click TOOLS and IMPORT FILTERS. These options don't exist in the new menu.
This is kinda what the guy below me said in Spanish. Had to translate :P

This add-on is great and works really well as long as you know how to use it.
If you are having an issue importing then please do the following:
Bring up the main drop down window, go to options and click on main menu.
a main menu will appear across the top of your thunderbird session. Click on Tools, then "Import Filters" select the email account you want to apply the imported filters to, click on import and select the file you exported.
Job done!
People who do not use the older main menu will struggle with this. ;)
Enjoy your filters!

TBird 24.2 Just downloaded and installed this addon. I use the "classic" menu bar. I now have an import option under tools., which only includes Eudora. I can find no way to export (there is no button on the Message filters window - or no other way I can find). The extension is not listed in my addons manager, so if I want to remove it there is no apparent way to accomplish that When this is working, I don't know if there is a way to export individual filters from one account to another (which is what I would like), if I have to export all filters as a chunk and import all filters, or if this is more intended to export and import between profiles. I can't find a link to learn more from the author's website. Getting filters from one account to another is a very basic function that shouldn't be so difficult, so If I can get this to work it would be marvelous. I would like to enable and disable this addon as the need arises. I've never had an addon not show up in the addon page before, and am concerned about that.I'll change my review when I understand what this addon is supposed to do and why I cannot see it to remove it if I can't get it to do what I need - or otherwise learn how to remove it.
I've reinstalled (over the previous install), and it now appears in the addon list.

As with the original plug-in, you can find the Import menu item under Tools -> Import Filters. This is under the original menu bar, not the newer "Thunderbird Menu" akin to Firefox's. Right click on top of Thunderbird and tick "Menu Bar" to view it. As for no file extension for the exported file, just add one yourself - it's not necessary though.

The extension works partially , when I export filters there's no extension for them ( which extension i have to save them to make it work? ) . Then, trying to import from Tools -> Import -> Filters , can't import the file i created before. Thunderbird just lets me import filters from Eudora client :( That's a big pity, It would be a really useful extension

Tools->Import...->Filters > Next
results in a windows saying "Please select what type of file that you would like to import" but with no options following that, just an empty white box. I'm left with either clicking Back or Cancel (the Next button is grayed out).
v1.03 with TB 24.1.0 on Ubuntu Linux 13.10.

Export doesn't do anything for me, either. MacOSX, TB 17.0.2.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.2).Wait for the new revision please to be made available :)

This looks like exactly what I've needed. I know it takes time, but please update this to work in TB17. Someone below said they sent you an update. Does it work?
Add a pay button. I would gladly pay for this extension and your time. Only one like it.
Done & done. I am in the process of designing & creating a new plug-in with better functionality than this one. Until then we have to make do with the one available (btw revision is up)

Nothing happens when exporting. No file created. Can only get prompt to export.Windows 7 64 bit
This should be a function of TB and not an add-on.
The new revision is en route. Please wait ... ;)

Agree with some of the others. With Thunderbird 17.0 the current (2nd Jan 2013) version (1.0.2) doesn't work for me. When exporting it will prompt for the file name to save to but then not create any file. Hopefully gets fixed.
Update: HerCsD has indeed fixed this problem by releasing v1.0.3. Thanks! Changed my score. One thing I'd request: The "Import Filters" menu item seems only available in the top menus which Thunderbird has removed by default in v17 (but can be made visible by hitting F10). Can we get "Import Filters" added to the Application Menu drop downs that are under the three horizontal bars icon? Or, better still, add it to the "Message Filters" window itself?
Wait for the new revision to be added to the MZ plg-in network ;)

Because of switching back to Outlook for some reasons I needed a tool for extracting my dozens of filters. The only tool I found was this add-on. But unfortunately it did nothing. After some investigations I could make it run for my Thunderbird 17.0. For me now it worked as expected.
I already sent the author the updated add-on. So he may publish it again...
Yeap, viewed changes with diff and upload it to MZ plug-in network ;)

Completely broken. Doesn't do either of the things it claims.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.2).Look for related answers to your (related) question in the posts below ;) Sorry for the trouble but as I have said the plugin will need a total revamp for bugs to be fixed which requires time :)
