works great, everything finally in sync!

You might say who cares, but not me. I have an addressbook with people who don't have some emails and when trying to "sync" / upload them to google via this Zindus plugin, google pukes and says that the entries are empty. So I guess it's not really Zindus' fault, but it sure ain't a solution for me.

The easiest workaround is to give them an email address - even a fake one is ok.

Excellent addon, I love it.
It's a bit tricky at the beginning with all the double entries, but once it's fixed it is perfect.
I wish this would be integrated into TB3.

just tried it out in order to sync thunderbird to google, and then google with my iphone3g...and so far, it all works like an absolute charm. amazing work.

Works for me so far! mikelcu is correct; blueboy56 has misunderstood this addon. If you choose to syn with Google, the only connection Zindus make is with Zindus -- I've confirmed that using "Little Snitch" on a Mac. In fact, the connection is a https connection.
Also, the Zindus URL that shows up in the address if you choose to sync the postal address is harmless. It's just the xml namespace designation. Yes it's there. No, your data doesn't get sent to that URL.

Is downright simple to use and works well. Thanks

trouble is, if you have the same contact in more than one distribution list, Thunderbird seems to insist on having duplicate entries in the addressbook, so you may not be able to use Zindus if you use distirbution lists much

5/5, brilliant! Good enough to switch me back to thunderbird from Kmail :)

greetz,
for the last week i've used zindus to sync my gmail contacts with thunderbird and subsequently birdiesync (which is an active sync plugin) to also keep my wm5 phone updated.
the combination works fine besides the issue that any editing on the phone automatically rewrites the 'Display Name' to the mail-address. so, here is my question: is it possible to also sync the Name field in Thunderbird with Zindus?
cheers,
berny

No more no less. It worked upfront with no problems in my Thunderbird 2.0.014 version.
After first setup it checked for redundant/conflicting entries on both Google and local Address book, and asked for manual housekeeping first, which I thought to be a good safe approach.
After that, it stayed in sync no matter the contacts mods. Great little tool!

For simple syncing of your personal address book to Google Contacts it seems to work well. Not too Many options though. Did not try with lists.

The implementation is still very very buggy.
I had a problem where I lost all my gmail chat contacts!!!
I synchronized my gmail contacts to my thunderbird contacts and then deleted one contact from my thunderbird address book and then this Zindus did synchronization again and deleted all my gmail chat contacts!!!
DO NOT USE IT!!!
(until it is well tested!)

Excellent add-on. Support was very responsive and the only bug I experienced was resolved within hours of the incident being filed.\r\n\r\nI can now safely say that Thunderbird can fully replace Outlook (on all aspects, save one - shared folders).\r\n\r\nDefinitely give this plug-in a try if you\'re trying to get the full integrated e-mail suite package for Thunderbird.

Great idea buy very very clunky implementation. Don't use it until it is sorted out. It took me 24 hours trying to clean out the two data bases then it got stuck on "google does not allow duplicate..." but it did not identify which contact. After 24 hours I have nothing to show for it and no way to go forward. Luckinly I had a way to go back.
Support does not answer emails and they don't have telephone support. Back up before you start if you must use this.

Using the latest RC from the website here. It works really well, just make sure you don't have any dupes before you sync with Gmail.

This is an excellent add on. I went to their site to download the latest version because I wanted to Sync with Google. It worked right out of th box without a hitch and my Personal Address Book is now being synchronized. Using imap, Gcal (gmail calendar sync) and Zindus it is one step closer to an exchange style setup using open source and the free gmail services.

Mozilla version: 2.0.0.6 (20070728) on Debian Linux, I've had it installed for just over 2 weeks now and have had no problems. I'm running it against a Zimbra (4) (zcs-4.5.7_GA_1319) installation.
Thanks!
