Very useful plugin, I always wondered why this functionality is not included with Thunderbird by default. With the posted workaround for Xubuntu, version 0.5.4 works perfectly again.
Thanks for the work on this!

The show/hide functionallity is bad option.
The new version 0.5.4 doesn't count unread/new messages. I've tried to move back one (two) versions, but no count either. I think new version had messed up configuration and I can't manage to fix it. PLEASE. Without above functionallity the firetray add-on is worthless.

why the fuck do i have to use mouse wheel click to hide/unhide?
everything else is controlled with the left click.
but firetray wants mouse wheel click...
add a feature where i can select the hide/unhide button.

How can I open Firefox under Xubuntu by click on icon in tray (now menu opened)?
Can I by option return old pattern - open Firefox by left-mouse-click on icon in tray?

Very nice add-on but setup own icon for apps and new mail (Linux tray) it's not working in 0.5.4 version. In older version working good.

Sorry folks, to me this add-on looks quite buggy. On my Linux Mint 16 MATE with an HP all-in-one network printer (6700 Premium) installed, this add-on prevents the tray icon of the HPLIP-GUI package from appearing at system's start up. With this add-on disabled, the mentioned icon does appear always.
Could you have a look at this please?
Or maybe, if you could add an adjustable(!) delay to make sure the HP-icon will load BEFORE this add-on and accordingly TB get loaded, please?

"Right, but it has a trigger so you can launch your own script that actually plays whatever you want."
I have no idea how to do that.
#!/bin/bash
# play.sh (need to chmod +x)
aplay /usr/share/sounds/purple/login.wav
Put this script's path into the 'Launch on count change' preference.

It often causes the computer to wait for Thunderbird indefinitely when attempting to shutdown. Then Thunderbird must be killed for the shutdown to be completed. This must be fixed.

Works seamlessly on Linux! I mean, real Linux. Tested in Arch, Debian and OpenSuse without problems. If the DE breaks firetray, blame it on the DE! It shows the notifications and works as intented. Love the option for select custom icons. First thing I add after setting up Thunderbird. Many thanks!

Notifications don't appear. Indicator never changes state. If you check the box to start Thunderbird minimized, then you will never see Thunderbird again until you start it in safe mode and disable this add-on.

I really like Firetray for its email notification. I have it installed on my Ubuntu Linux box. The only problem is it isn't available for my windows machine. Why is that? This is the only reason it is getting 4 stars.

I was looking for this functionality for a long time. Thanks a lot for devising and keeping it up to date! I am using FireTray on KDE 4.11.2. It has worked straight away, no hassle at all.

Hello. Thanks for a great addition. In addition lack of Russian. Settings pop-up menu, and only in English.

Doesn't work in Ubuntu Unity. Should be made compatible as an indicator. In the past Thunderbird could be white listed, but the Ubuntu developers argued that third party developers had enough time to change from systray to indicator. Shouldn't be to difficult to do this.

Way better than MTT! Option to leave the icon in the tray at ALL times! Doesn't have random crashes upon exiting, such as with MTT. Extra options and notifications for Thunderbird. Works smoothly under Linux.
This addon rocks!

Starting minimized is a bit unsightly because the TB window can be seen for maybe 1 second before it's minimized.
