Like others I have run into trouble with TB 15 freezing with this version .16 of the addon. If I turn Provider for Google Calendar's cache off, all is well. Once this is fixed, this addon gets a 5

The Cache option, screws up the calendar! I like to have Cache option enabled to use calendar offline. But it does not work - was working fine in 0.13 and with 0.16 update it just messed it up.

The concept of this is great and thunderbird desperately needs something like this but the performance issues that go along with this are NOT made up by the convenience that it offers. I initially wrote these problems off on the fact that I used to use it in linux but now that I'm in windows 7 with a new intel I7 and 8GB of ram it's obviously not the machine or the OS. Everytime this plugin checks on the google servers to sync the calendars thunderbird goes unresponsive for sometimes up to 30 seconds. I have very busy calendars sometimes dozens of meetings per day and dozens of weekly meetings that recur weekly forever. This plugin needs some serious optimization if it is going to ever be useable by us business users

All you have to do is to install Lightning, Install this add on, get your Google calendar XML url, and then add it. It is extremely easy to use, and it works flawlessly.
Thanks for making such an awesome add-on. :)

Great service but stumbling blocks. Updating to TB 15, Lightning 1.7 and Provider 0.16 made my Windows 7 PC freeze instantly. After deinstalling and reinstalling all of it fine again. Not so good

I think maybe all problems are caused because an older version of Provider for Google Calendar is offered here! Version 0.13, while for Thunderbird 15 version 0.16 is needed I think.

Provider for google calender doesnt work anymore with Thunderbird 15.0 and Lightning 1.7
I can make new entrys and they are shown online on google calendar, but not in Lightning.

I have been happy with Lightning, but I am about to uninstall it adn Provider because it cannot be synchronized with GoogleCalendar. Provider does NOT provide synchronization. Changes made in your off-line calendar do NOT appear on GoogleCal and the "synchronized" calendar cannot be viewed off-line in Lightning. Not good enough for my purposes.

Makes my life extremely easier having all my Google calendars on Thunderbird. You could switch to CalDAV but I am waiting for Google tasks support, which I am aware is coming soon [1]. I'm giving this addon 5 stars up front for the dedication from the developer in maintaining this addon.

I would give this addon zero stars if possible. The headache of having to enter your master password once for each calendar, when opening thunderbird... is well documented and has been going on for way too long.
I removed this addon, as it is NOT needed to sync thunderbird/lightning with your google calendar, and your cell phone calendar.
I removed this addon, changed my ical calendars to caldav (which thunderbird/lightning support natively with no other addon needed) and now have my thunderbird & lightning/google calendar/cell phone calendars all synced and running fine.
The BIG plus is.. no more entering master password multiple times when opening thunderbird. I am back to typing it in once, thats it. So, change your calendars to caldav, remove this addon, and you wont have the password headaches anymore. Contrary to what is stated below by someone else... you dont have to know anything about caldav to use that type of calendar. Just like you dont have to know anything about ical. Its not like you have to write code to use the calendar. Just google "caldav thunderbird google calendar" and you can find tutorials everywhere to setup your calendars via caldav.
I am running:
Windows 7
Thunderbird 14
Lightning 1.6
P.S. also, this addon was responsible for adding unwanted default reminders (6hrs before each event) to calendar events that were created.... when the reminders were turned off everywhere. You could NOT get rid of these reminders that this addon set. So yet another headache has been removed by removing this addon

Have used on both Windows XP and Mac X. Works seamlessly on both. Elegantly solves an otherwise persistent problem. Big thanks to the developer.

Have been using this add-on for a long time on PC, now on Mac also. This is the only add-on of its kind and works well on PC. On Mac sometimes if leaving TB always running, but window closed, on relaunch of window, no Calendars show. but a restart of TB always fixes this. Would really benefit from Tasks integration. Looking forward to that.

with TB 13.x and 14, lightning 1.5x and 1.6, provider for google calendar is causing a complete hang of thunderbird.

I'd have to start Thunderbird in safe mode and disabled all addons one by one to understand that Provider for Google Calendar hung Thunderbird.

Very helpful to keep your information in one place. I will add one more star an donate as soon as "tasks" will be in sync too.

I have used this add-on for a couple of years now and contrary to some reviews, it really does work - or rather it did until I updated to TB13 / Lightning 1.5. Now I find that every entry on my Lightning calendar is Duplicated - i.e. I have two copies of every event on my Lightning Calendar but not on my Google calendar. Had it not been for this bug, it would be a 5-star review...

CalDav is impossible to use for non programmers. For normal people, there's Provider for Google Calendar.
