I just confirm FF 3.0.3 troubles - empty window shows and even Web developer plugin shows dialog, that DOM inspector is not installed :(
I love this plugin and am very sad, that I can't use it now :(

Having worked with Mozilla UI for a while, this is a MUST have for anyone who works with mozilla UI.
Great for debugging. I only wish the UI was fixed up a bit with this tool.
But other then that, GREAT tool.

To work on Firefox's appearance, close all tabs then open DOM.
(not accurate because my FF is not in English):
File > Inspect Chrome of the document > Mozilla Firefox.

Worked fine in Firefox 3 for me this morning...you must have screwed up your installation somehow. This helped me solve an issue with a Stylish mod that Firebug was choking on.

Oh I'm sorry guys but this is a firefox 3.0 only compatible addon, it was ported here because it is not available in the advanced user options in the installer. Reinstall firefox and go to advanced user and check it off there and reinstall if you are using the 2.0.0.x series.

It really helps to step through the web page to see what each element is doing, particularly when using CSS formatting and Java scripts. Things get fuzzy in my memory of what we have done on our site and DOM inspector sorts it all out...

Once came bundled with Firefox itself, now spun-off into its own extension. If you're a developer of anything remotely web-related, get this. It's the #1 tool for all of your debugging needs.

Get this and the 'inspect this' plugin, then you can right click on anything and look it up in the DOM Inspector. Then in the inspector check out the CSS styles that apply to that element and debug :-)

DOM Inspector is one of the most important add-ons for both web developers and add-on developers. I could not build and update my Firefox theme without DOM Inspector.
