Thanks :) +4* because it's visually appealing and the pic I have in it will make me happy every time I use firefox -1* because it's technically useless...technically

The better solution would be to make Firefox load faster.

not sure if this is truly your fault or not but the loading bar floats to the top of the image and i dont want it too... 4 out of 5 is still one of the best scores you can get from me (infact none have gotten a 5 from me) so good job mate you deserve it.

I like it a lot. Thanks for your work on this. Now if only I could add a custom splash image. (Nudge nudge wink wink say no more) :-)

Brilliant, on such a slow computer such as my laptop, a loading/splash page for firefox is fantastic :) Thank you very much =D

I find this extension quite useful--especially when introducing Firefox to a first-time user. I even have it installed on my machines; it's nice to get a visual confirmation that FF is loading.

Hi, Mel,
I wonder if you know that years and years ago, maybe when Firefox was still Firebird, there was a heated debate which raged for some time about a splash screen. I think it was just before Firefox came out. And it was a surprisingly angry debate. What you have created in Splash is exactly the thing that quite a few folks said should be an option. The opposition were purists who felt any splash screen would (for some reason) be a sell-out of sorts, not in compliance with the spirit of what was to be the ultra-fast new Firefox.
Well, of course, Firefox showed up as much slower in loading than IE 6. There was actually a time when Firefox cheated on the results and claimed it was much faster than it was. But IE is partially loaded all the time, and Firefox, as time was to show, would never be a fast loader, no matter what.
I really like your splash screen, and I have it tweaked to remain visible until the browser is ready to display its first webpage. I do this because Firefox takes about 20 seconds to load in my system. Before your Splash, I often wondered whether Firefox were really loading or not, and I guess I called up Task Manager maybe a hundred times to ascertain whether Firefox were dead or alive.
Thank you very much indeed, Mel. You have at last settled an argument of so long ago.

Not much to it. Just install, restart, and a splash screen appears when you start FF. Simple!
Running on FF 2.0.0.11, WinXP.

Dunno what I did wrong, but after installing, I goto tools>addons> click on splash extensions and I get a menu screen that quickly minimizes to a title bar. It does this twice, and if you are lucky, you can get your mouse ontop of one of the buttons quick enough to click on it. It then stops and behaves somewhat normally, but page sizes are all wrong, items cut off.
Uninstalled, reinstalled, turn off other extensions, clear cache, yadda yadda yadda.
I'm running the latest versions of everything. Big fat goose-egg on this one, for now. Any idears??

mostly being an eye candy it performs what it is intended to be ,and very well as offering highly customizable options, makes it a worthwhile add on.

it works like it says, u can add sounds for the splash, change the image etc. the amount of time it stays on....works nice if u have alot of add ons, because it loads firefox fully while the splash is going, so firefox is in memory and works faster. i would like a simple choose picture method, but hey, it dont rly matter. win xp sp2 2.5 ghz 760 mb of ram.
