Absolutely positively must have for folks such as myself who have made the move from IE to Firefox. Seems to be about the ONLY major feature missing, why on earth someone would prevent me from making the choice to simply run a downloaded file versus saving it first for "security reasons" is mind boggling. Considering the fact that FF is supposed to be the "open" standard, and IE is anything but :) In any case, I gave it four stars because I'm confident that someday soon it will be up and running on FF 26.0, keeping my fingers crossed that it will be soon. Thanks!
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.5.0.1-signed).Well, I have a beta version up and running, still struggling on some machines, not sure why.

I translated zh-TW Traditional Chinese at babelzilla.org , please check, thanks=)
P.S.: i reedit some translation at 28/12/2013
Thank you. I don't speak Chinese so I'll have to trust you. I'll add it to the next version whenever it comes...

Still gave it 5 stars as it was so useful until now ... has been broken ever since FF26 though. Please bring it back to life.

I hope I'll manage to find and squash that issue. It doesn't happen for me.

OK, 5 stars to cheer you up so you give us all a happy Xmas by fixing it as it is so useful (Not working on FF26 + Win8.1) ... please!

I doubt I can do it by Christmas; but if you haven't yet, feel free to drop me a PM or e-mail so you can test the latest beta.

This is a must-have addon for every Firefox user.
It's unbelievable and unforgivable Firefox still doesn't have this option by default.
What's wrong with the Mozilla Trolls ???
They do nothing but screwing up Firefox since they started their monthly update hype 2 years ago.
To my opinion they hardly added any improvements since FF3.6 and after every update i may only hope my favorite addons do still work and the UI, i'm familiar with, still looks the same.
But adding something simple and useful as this seems to be too difficult... sad, very sad.
Thank you pretty much! :-)

this add-on has one simple function that FF for some reason does not include in the standard package. It adds a Run button to the Save File As options just like in Internet Explorer. Before I installed this, it was annoying that I would have to save an .exe somewhere and then go run it.

Very useful, but it's incompatible with 'Save File to' extension. I'll add the last star if you don't obligate me to choose between them... thank you
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.4.3.1-signed).Please contact me with a detailed description of your Firefox/SeaMonkey version and the problems occurring and I'll see what I can do. Technically, OD² can't be compatible with EVERYTHING.

Must-be addon for Firefox.

Hi everyoneFrom the release of FF 21, Opendowlnoad has ceased to be functional on my 'puters (all of them running under Seven Pro 64 bits).Briefly, the "run" button is present, but when pressed, any *.exe file is not activated, but downloaded in the TEMP folder where a folder "mozOpenDownload" appears which contains the *exeReverting to older versions of FF, such as the 19.0, was the only solution I found to fix this bug.All the bestHB
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.4.2.1-signed).Sorry that you had a bad experience, but if you could just provide me with information about occurred errors (in the error console) instead of giving me 1 star, it would have been easier. ;)

All good... FF 23 , Win 7 32-bit
An excellent addon. Recommended.

Like the previous reviewer, I also started running into trouble after upgrading to FF 22. I'm not sure what exactly causes it but the "run" button stops appearing. Enabling and disabling the plug-in doesn't seem to fix it. Re-installing the addon didn't fix it either although completely uninstalling FF did. If it makes a difference I'm using the portable version of FF.
For now I've reverted back to FF 19 and so far it seems to be fine.
Do you happen to use "open in browser" or similar extensions with OpenDownload2?

It's a great addon, but no longer works with "Open in Browser" installed (no "Run" button for executables). I know, it's not the addon's fault; Firefox simply has a non-existent extensibility model.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.4.2.1-signed).Could you specify your problems?

This feature should have been built into Firefox! So why haven't you already downloaded this add-on? ;)
But thanks to the author! Love this!

Does what it says, and makes my life a little easier every time I download something.

Application necessary for comfort on downloads.
Tuxman rocks ;-)

Great add-on. Completely necessary. Thank you.
The previous user who claimed it was very tough to find this is correct. I agree with him, it's most likely why the extention isn't as popular as I'd imagine it would have been. There were no set of keywords I could use to find this. I eventually found a forum post which recommended the app and linked to it.
You'd be doing yourself a great favour by renaming it "Run Don't Download" or something of that sort.
Cheers.
Nah, too long.
Could I just add "OpenDownload2" to the text and Firefox would find it? Sorry, I never actually played with these possibilities...

This is the Add-On that makes it possible to keep using FireFox. Thank you!

OpenDownload² is a great tool but the name makes it non-searchable in Firefox's add-on manager, search box, etc. You have to stumble on it. Can't just search "download" or something popular. Thought the developer should know why his tool is not more popular.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.2.2.1-signed).Well thanks for the hint. :)
I actually can find it through the add-on manager. I took the idea from the AddBookmark² (or whatever it is called) add-on: A more-or-less complete rewrite without being an entirely new extension. AFAICS the extension is known enough though. ;-)

Oh how sweet it is. Installed the addon, tried it, it worked. It is a VERY beautiful thing indeed. (Firefox v18.0.2)
Shame on Mozilla for this not being a core/default feature for firefox. It at least should be an option.
