Thanks Christophe for the "Caution, if you uncheck the "local changes only" option, the message disappears completely , in thunderbird, and on the mail server!!! (I’m in pop version)"
That seems to work for the few I have tried to change so far. I don't remember having this problem in the previous EES version and hope John can review the situation and correct it if possible. Thanks again for your "Caution", upgrading rating as a result. And thank you John for EES.

Attention, si l'on décoche l'option "changements locaux uniquement", le message disparaît purement et simplement , et dans thunderbird, et sur le serveur de courrier !!! (je suis en version pop)

I do have some problem with the permissions.
"Have full unrestricted access to Thunderbird, and your computer".
Unrestricted access to my computer sounds more like a virus. Is it?
You will get that a lot with TB78, as that is now the standard info when installing a privileged add-on. I could erase your harddrive, if I want, because I have full system access.
However, this add-on has been reviewed, as it is hosted on ATN. So this add-on will NOT erase your harddrive, as that would have been rejected by ATN review
The add-on has the same "power" as it had in TB68 or older, but the info message is only printed now.
But why do you flag the add-on? It asks for a permission and you are free to reject. Just do not use it then.

You can change the Subject in the mail list display by right-clicking and selecting Edit Email Subject.
However, the Subject displayed in the message pane did not reflect the change.
Also, HotKey "E" does not work.

doesn't work on TB 78.3.1. Can't see any changes even after restarting TB. I tried unchecking the option (cause I want to see the change in TB), checking the option again, same thing. When I type the change, click OK, nothing changes and when I go back and try to change again, the initial changes have disappeared. One Time I made a change and my email disappeared from my inbox!!!

Seems to work, but why just change the TB database? I used HeaderTools Lite until TB78 broke it. It changed the actual content of the message, which I preferred.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.2).Check the options. You can have it either way.

Absolutely essential add-on. However, one minor suggestion:
When triggering the dialog, it would be helpful to have the entire subject line already selected so one may simply begin typing to replace it (rather than first pressing Ctrl-A/Cmd-A to select all the text). Admittedly, a minor quibble.

So glad to see this updated! I've missed it for a long time.
It easily doubles the value of TBird - I can't thank you enough. Made a contribution...

Want to thank John Bieling, the developer for updating this app - I can 't express what a handy function it is. John, after I get paid - I'll send another donation. Thanks again!

Sadly, the suggestion for Header Tools Lite may work for older TB, but not for the current version. I've contributed in the hopes of an update of this great add-on, and I hope that others will do so.

Indeed this was an extremely useful add-on.
I thought Mr Christopher Leidigh offered to udpdate the add-on.
How come the developer did not accept as perhpas Jisse44 does not have the time to do this?
The add-on is now compatible with TB68 as well. It just took a little longer.

Like many other reviewers, I depend on this program. I use my email inbox like a knowledge base, and find searching by subject to be very helpful. If someone sends me an email with a generic subject line, this tool helps me to properly label the email. I don't use tags.
Using this program is so important that today I downgraded from version 68 to version 60.2.1. Now, my subject change tool works!

Badly missing this add-on in the current version of Thunderbird as a way of managing my outstanding emails. Can we crowd-fund a working version or can I add my voice to the request that it goes into the Thunderbird product?

Dear jisse44 : this add-on was a life saver for my professional life. I have used this add-on for many, many years with 100% satisfaction. But Thunderbird TB68 made an end to this fantastic tool. Would 1000 USD / EUR convince you to do the update ? Otherwise I guess I will have to switch to Outlook.
