I loved this addon and have used it for years, but if I'm not mistaken it's function has been incorporated into TB itself in TB 38+. To activate columns, just open the little square icon with an arrow at the top right of the Folder Pane. No more 4KB issue either. I don't think there is a reason to keep this addon installed.

FYI. In order to work in T'Bird 38+, do the following:
Set check mark on "View/Layout/Folder Pane Columns" and normal operation will return.

Great add-on but not working properly with Thunderbird 38. The drop-down menu lists the three options but without any text. When pressed, the functionality remains intact.

On Thunderbird 38 beta doesn't work.
Not column name at select column, and not display size, num and so on.

I like this extension but would it be possible to use 64 bits for the size column? Currently it seems to have only 32 bits thus values greater than 4 GB can not be displayed correctly.

Looks like this is abandonware.
Edit: Thanks for the update.
Hi, this isn't abandonware, it just hasn't needed to be updated for any changes. It runs nicely as it is.
Unfortunately, it looks like there was a bug or issue somewhere, that caused the maximum compatible version to not be automatically updated on addons.mozilla.org, I've now manually.

I just could'nt live without this must-be extention.
still, 2 things I'wd dream to see improved:
- recursive estimation of size. Cause with hundreds of nested folders, it's very inconvenient to open all to see the leaves.
- a more convenient way to tune the size of columns (very inintuitive and impracticle with several columns. But might be TB fault).

Using ExtraFolderColumns1.1.5 on TB31.1, TB has a strange behavior when I enable the display of the SIZE column: When I scroll the folder pane, TB freeze few seconds.
When I disable the SIZE column, the scrolling is fine.
This add-on is a must have when you have to manage an IMAP mailbox with a space disk quota.
Thanks

I like the extension but recently I found out that it seems to be just this extension what causes a strange behavior in my TB - when I repair a folder, the columns TAG and SIZE that I had activated before disappear after the folder repair and I have to activate them again. When I tried with disabled extension all was fine.
Thanks for fixing this if you can...

This extension should be standard on Thunderbird.
If you could the ability to click on the size column to sort folders by size would make this extension perfect. Thank you so much.

Extra Folder Columns 1.1.5 worked perfectly. 'Took all of 60 seconds to download and install. Thanks!

Each folder has the account name tagged onto it so there's not enough room to display the folder name and it gets truncated. This makes it unusable. There is a fix available (google "different extra folder columns") which is just a minor tweak to the code for this add-on but the authors of this add-on refuse to include that fix because they are waiting (at least five years now!) for Thunderbird to fix a bug. I use and recommend only the "different" version. If this add-on had this fix I'd give it 5 stars. Too bad.

SORRY, THIS IS NOT CAUSING MY PROBLEM.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT *IS* CAUSING THE PROBLEM,
BUT DELETING THIS ADD-ON DOES NOT "CURE" IT.
This add-on is very useful, but it clobbers the T.B. Status bar. The status bar is reduced to just the two fields: Unread: ___ Total: ____, squashed all the way to the left, with all the other status thingies omitted. It may look OK for one or two invocations, but will soon revert to the problem display. Pictures on request.

I changed my OS from Windows XP to Windows 7 and caught a bug. I am not sure if this bug in your addon or in ThunderBird.
The fact is...I use "search folders" or "smart folders" with a number of filters. And it was very convinient to use your add-on to count letters in such folder. It is clear that in order to actualize counter, you should click on folder and wait for 1 second. Problem is that at W7 you should click on folder twice or even 3 or 4 times to actualize counter. Please, fix this bug in your add-on or post bug in Bugzilla. Thank you.

The review submission system suggests not posting bugs as reviews, citing a "support" section, instead, which does not exist for this plugin. So I've posted a bug as a review. If you don't like it, ask for a refund? ;)

In Thunderbird this extension does not go in the sense that totalization of folders is not correct and sometimes numbers disappear.
You must control because this extension is wrong with the last Thundebird release 24.
Bye.
Hi, the add-on does not control the numbers themselves, it only displays the numbers that Thunderbird provides.
You need to file a bug on Thunderbird itself about the numbers being incorrect, explaining which numbers, and roughly when they disappear.
To create your own collections, you must have a Mozilla Add-ons account.
