Die Auswahl beim weiterleiten einer Nachricht hat einen etwas verwirrenden Charakter - fälschlicherweise nahm ich an die Nachricht nur an eigene Adressen weiterleiten zu können.
Ansonsten top

When using a dark theme, the hard coded colors make own address unreadable, recipients' addresses invisible and the mail subject unreadable...
With the default theme or a light one, there is no problem...

Currently, the font or text color of a new mail window, for the "To / Cc / Bcc" fields needs to be more readable, especially when many are color blind to red.
The "Subject" field box, please change the text color to black, the default color. It is very hard to read with a grey or light grey, which is a bad choice for accessibility - readability reasons.
Text Shadow for the toolbar add-on. Again light text color with white text shadow make it very hard to read. Lessen the spread of the text shadow, use darker shadow color with the light text color. You can also use Text shadow to create a text stroke (see here for the info: https://css-tricks.com/adding-stroke-to-web-text/ ).
Dark text color to light backgrounds and Light text color to dark backgrounds is the best for correct readability and contrast.
Basically make things easily readable in all cases, it will look far more professional.
This fix can either come as a feature so we can change the text color or you can reset it properly in your next update.
Thanks
3 stars because of this issue.
Are you using an alternative theme? Identity Chooser works very well with the default theme. If you need to change the color for an identity you can do this in Identity Chooser's setting which you'll find in Thunderbird's addon manager.

Lightning was added with a Thunderbird update without prompting me to approve. With the latest update of Thunderbird 45.1.1 Identity Chooser was messed up. Thanks, Mozilla. Two hours of lifetime wasted while trying to detect the misbehaviour and repair addon functionality.
Solution Steps (no warranty!):
a) Download "identity_chooser-1.9.3-sm+tb.xpi", in case something goes wrong.
b) Luckily, the settings are preserved in PREFS.JS, so do not (!) edit this file.
c) Remove Identity Chooser from the addons. Restart TB.
d) You will see a down arrow on "Write". When you click on it, it says "Message - Event - Task" instead of your identities.
e) Disable Lightning. Do not (!) remove it because it might come back with the next update.
f) Restart TB. Reinstall Identity Chooser from addons page or XPI.
Five stars for "Identity Chooser", zero stars for Lightning.

I wanted to use this extension to prevent that when answering emails the default email in my tb is used when my receiving address is not recognized. Identity chooser doesn't do anything in that case.
I have an email address that has a very long name. I sat up an alias so that others can write me to that alias. However, I can not answer from this alias address because it is not the real address. So emails I receive on the alias email address end up not being recognized by tb as to from which email account an answer should be sent. So tb uses the default email, which is not correct.
Well, I fear this review will be useless, looks like the developer might have abandoned this project unfortunately. It's a good extension otherwise.

Like other users said, I second this:
"Like a number of people here, (and probably a good many who don't post reviews) please consider making it compatible with TT DeepDark. It certainly wouldn't be reasonable 'support' every theme out there, but in this case, TT DeepDark is a 'Featured' theme and one of the most popular dark themes available. Please consider working with the TT DD maintainer to resolve the issues."
I needed to "hack" with my own extension, but after some new Thunderbird/TT DD/IndentityChooser upgradings, it needs again to be processed and repaired.
The main problems are all in the composewindow:
- address cell with light gray background over light gray foreground font colors.
- blury identitfy text

Thx for this very useful addon! There is one problem though: When I use the "reply all" button above the received message only the original sender will be addressed. Curiously, when I do the same thing using the menu on top of the window this does not happen BUT then the identity chooser drop-down does not appear. Having the add on deactivated everything goes back to normal so I think this is a problem of the identity chooser add-on. Best regards!

This saves my a lot of mouse clicks on a daily bases and prevents sending a message from the wrong address.

1.9 prevents sending replies from Thunderbird 31.6.0, at least that is the effect on our installations. 1.8.8 works properly.

It is very helpful, very good idea!
I use the TT Deepdark skin aswell and unfortunately it is not compliant with it.
It is not possible to see the writing in sender line and subject header line, because of same background colour and writing.
Hopefully it will be fixed soon!
Thanks very much
I know this is a problem. Unfortunately, I don't have the right now to make Identity Chooser look better with alternative themes.

Thanks a lot for this great addon, il love it !
Unfortunately it is no more compliant with the fantastic skin TT Deepdark.
The last good version is v1.8.6. Newer ones display receiver invisible names (text font is same colour than its background).
Regards.

beyond choosing the right identity when composing a new mail,
i also wanted to assign a color to each of my mail addresses ...
a color that i feel is cool ...
so i started to search for a plugin which would do that...
plus, i needed my accounts to be sorted in the right order ... for which i was searching for a plugin too ...
now, guess what, this plugin, Identity Chooser, gives users these functions too, at an even better quality and ease of use than those two WONDERFUL plugins that i found for these two purposes ...
supercool!
thanks - a lot!

I absolutely love this add-on. The only thing lacking is the inability to sort my email addresses identities alphabetically.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.8.8).While there is no automatic sort available you still can rearrange the identities in Identity Chooser's settings dialog. Hope this helps.

I've been using Thunderbird for many years and this is the most useful add-on I've had the pleasure of installing. Anyone who has multiple email accounts has probably made the mistake of sending outgoing mail from the wrong account, and this greatly reduces the possibility of doing that.
Instead of just opening the composition window when you want to write a new mail or forward one, Identity Chooser "forces" you to select the sending account you wish to use via a slide out menu. It takes a fraction of a second to do, but all but eliminates the problem of using the wrong sending address. It doesn't appear to be foolproof as you could still select the wrong address by mistake, but that's where the ingenuity of the developer truly shines.
When using this add-on the top portion of the composition window adopts a user-adjustable color for visual confirmation that you are using the right account. I changed the colors so that my "regular" accounts are various shades of green, while those that I use less often and would prefer to not use by mistake are various shades of orange and red. If you do accidentally select the wrong account those visual clues should be enough to let you know of your mistake.
I have no complaints about the program at all, but I am disappointed that it took me so long to find it. I tried numerous search terms and it never showed up and it was only when I put "avoid wrong sender address in Thunderbird" in Google that I discovered it. It would be nice if such a useful add-on could find a more prominent placement in both searches and on the add-on page.

Very useful. Its color codes can help you to detect the email account you're writing through at first glance, thus eliminating mistakes

Very useful! A request similar to Nick2222's: how about allowing more than one address book in "Warn only if recipient`s email was not found in..." (i.e., not found in AddressBook1 OR AddressBook2)?

Can You add option in Send Warning options "Warn only if recipient`s email was found in this address book" (now only "...was NOT...") ?
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.8.5).I'll put it on my list.
