Works great. Super handy.

Nice addon which allows to close TB into the tray.
I just wished, this option was directly available in the addon, as well as an option to start TB directly in the tray...

Добрый день, спасибо за расширение. Как я понял в Manjaro он скрывает основное окно с рабочего стола, но не добавляет значок в трей и чтобы отобразить клиент приходится его открывать как обычно через основное меню.

Works like a charm. Just installed the add-on and activated "Minimize to sys tray" option in the Thunderbird settings.
Now, when I click on on the X, Thunderbird is minimized into the tray.
Perfect!

Installée pour tester mais du coup je l'ai désinstallée, il me semble que cette option est désormais proposée par défaut dans Thunderbird (constaté dans la version 78.3.32)

"If you want Thunderbird to minimize to the tray, you need an independent application to move it to the tray whenever it is minimized. "
It would be nice if I could choose to hide window instead of minimizing. This behaviour would be more natural when using tray application.
BTW I use Firebird, the only tray application survided 60+ upgrade.
UPDATE:
sorry i've mistaken "Birdtray" is the name of the app.
what I am asking is the behaviour on close or alt+f4. this is controlled from inside of the thunderbird, not externall tray app. Birdtray allows to hide and unhide, but it cannot controll behaviour of controll issued from inside of thunderbird.
Any reasonable tray application should have an option to hide the window in the regular task bar while it is kept in the tray. I wasn't able to find a tray application named "Firebird", though – so I have no idea how to do that with your tool. Note that you do *not* need a tray application designed for Thunderbird – any application that permits to move minimized windows into the tray should work.
Upcoming versions of Thunderbird will also natively support minimizing to the tray (Windows-only for now) – if you enable the option in the settings, the add-on will thus natively move Thunderbird to the tray.

does not work.

Does not work at all. By clicking on the close button, the mail client is neither minimized or closed.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1.0.0).It is possible that you use an unsupported version of Thunderbird and/or there is another add-on conflicting with Minimize on Close. If you need help, contact the support email address with more details – the rating feature here is not designed for conversations.

Great add-on, works exactly as described!
Question for the dev: Is it possible to add a feature to minimize TB on start (like it was with Minimize on start and close add-on)? Or is there something in the new API that prevents this? Thanks anyway!
For the future: don't use the rating feature to ask questions, write an email to the linked email address. The rating feature is not intended for support or other questions.
Minimize on Close still uses the old Add-on API (and will probably be ported as experiment to 78, which is similar to the old API), so yes that would be possible. But I don't think minimizing on startup belongs into an add-on named "Minimize on Close". If you or somebody else wants to implement a separate add-on to minimize on startup, feel free to take Minimize on Close as starting point, though. :)

It makes what claims, but if by mistake you open another window, it will not close...
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.0.1).This issue has been fixed in version 1.1.0.0, which is awaiting its review by the Thunderbird add-ons team since about a month now.
