This module is a useful shortcut to the DuckDuckGo. Why the 4-star review ? It lacks the integrated calculatrice in the suggestions, which is a feature the Google Firefox module provides and which I find very useful.

Better every day, love the different ways results are shown, previews and page snippets. Many times I find the answer I need without the need to click on a search result.

With Google and other companies using the internet to track people and get information and the govt becoming more like a crime organization, over the last 6 years, including spying on people, I decided to change my browser and search engine to ones that protect my privacy. At first I started with DuckDuckGo but after running across some articles about this company which lead to doing some research, I found out there is some misleading in their statements about the level of privacy their search engine provides. Also they financially support at least one liberal, anti-Trump organization in disguised as a privacy advocate organization. If someone is going to profit from my usage of their product then that profit needs to go to causes I would support with my own money. There are better "privacy" search engines out there, just do your research. Better than Google and Yahoo so two stars.
Thanks for the review. To clarify our approach to privacy, we make our position clear in our privacy policy: https://duckduckgo.com/privacy
In summary, we don't collect or share personal information and anything that states otherwise is inaccurate.

By Darren Chaker , reviews search engine add on. Serious privacy for those who do not want search engines to create profiles on the user. Excellent tool for those who want to keep online research private.

Forget about Ecosia and StartPage. DDG is in the house.

Some time to adapt to a new search engine and its shortcommings is needed, but it's good to know (or at least to think), that your searching stays private.

so great.
Instant results are much better than Google's and the !bang features are amazing. Obviously, the greatest thing about all this is that it's absolutely private. I won't use any other search engine ever again. Recommended!!!

Some user said this isn't a secure service as it is a USA-based company. Well, as they stat on their privacy policy: https://duckduckgo.com/privacy, they don't collect any data, so they cannot share any data with anyone... besides, this user also stats this is a cookie-free service, but cookies are the only you can turn on.
This search engine is the great alternative to google, it returns very good results, and I only miss some google's features like filter results from date, or a few examples more.

A few years ago I said goodbye to The Big G's search engine. . I recently also dumped their browser and migrated to FF.
So now I only use DDG and SP for my search needs. The problem is that both search engines start reverting back to default settings when I start a new browser session. It really does my head in. So any suggestions how I can keep my DDG custom settings would be appreciated. Thanks.
Thank you, Duckster! Great to know we've got your support!
On saving your settings, it sounds like you have your browser set to clear history/cache/cookies when you exit. That would erase your DDG Settings.
Fortunately, we have an option that will work for you :)

Don't think of this service as a SECURE service.
It's just cookie safe really.
ANY company that is in the USA, or owned even just in a tiny fraction in any country in the world, is obliged by NSA to give them any network activity they demand.
So, in particular, any company owned and based in the USA will NEVER be secure to work with.
