The best TB addon, improving over the classic favorite Nostalgy. I really hope it will be compatible with TB115 soon.

Impressive plugin. Some suggestions that I think are easy:

- Remove the icon out of the status bar. It is very large relatively to the status bar. Just the text is fine.
- I would prefer the search view to have all email accounts/ folders collapsed.
- I would love for the search view to remember the last used criteria, so not to set them again and again when opening the panel.

I definitely will donate.

I could not live without this add-on! Combining Nostalgy++ with the tbkeys add-on means that I control Thunderbird with most of the same keystrokes I've been using since I did my email in Pine in the 1990s. There is no faster way to plow through a loaded inbox!

Nostalgy++ was already very good (and luckily a good alternative to Nostalgy) but Search is also a very nice feature.
What I think is the worst thing in Thunderbird is the Search function. Nostalgy++ search is better but still far from perfect. I would like it to be just like MailStore. I use MailStore find messages. I think there should be an option "Search All" and I think it's better not to constantly update the database but to do it just like MailStore. Click to update the indexed database. Takes a few minutes but you only use it if you also want to search for something received/sent not long ago, if not you use the old database.
Ps: Why not make it a separate extension?

This is an excellent TB add-on and I consider it very hard to work without it.
Many thanks to the developer for all his work and ongoing development.
A (stupid) question here about the new search feature - how do I open the search++ tab? What keystroke or action is the one to give me access to this search?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.4.2).

there is a top toolbar button with a searchglass and the ++. Press to see the new search in a tab.

Is quite good but the rules section can be more comprehensive to include criteria on:
- email age
- email size

and the action can include the default TB archive action rather then specifying a specific folder for those who store archived emails by year like me

A tool that I cannot live (in thunderbird) without, although the bug with >> in completion is a real pain.

Thanks for this wonderful addon! It adds usability to TB. But now (TB 91.5.0) it seems they screwed something up again. I'm using only the jump function with quicksearch -- this does not jump anywhere if the folder is not already visible in the folder pane. What a PITA for me -- I'm always using the 'Unread Folder' view, and occasionally jumping into a folder by name. BTW, TB's own function 'jump to folder' also does not work, so it's clearly not a problem of this extension. (I'll dig into TB's bugzilla to see their stance about it)

20220131 - Changed the shortcut keys in settings and now it is working as expected. Thank you. Updated my review.

20220125 - Conflicting with https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/tag-toolbar

When I try to search some tag, Nostalgy comes in between.

Thank you for the great extension. I love it!

After updating the thunderbird to version 91, I got a problem.
I uses "g" (goto a folder) command so often to go back and forth between folders. After updating the thunderbird to 91, "g" command does not work unless the folder is exposed on the folder pane. Ex, if "Inbox" folder is hided, "g" to "inbox" command does not work. It works on the previous version of thunderbird, as "g" command expose the folder in the folder pane, even if the folder was folded to hide.

I'm wondering if this improved on the extension side, forcing the folder to expose in the folder pane.

Excellent addon for keeping your hands on the keyboard. Simple and intuitive. Very happy to see this updated for current versions of TB!

I am delighted that v.3.04 mostly works with TB91. Essential for quickly filing emails. I look forward to the fully updated version for TB91, including the "cc" feature in the composition window on TB x64 (still not working for me)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.0.4).

I read in a forum that this is now a feature in TB 91? But actually, I cannot find it, so maybe it is planned for later?

If so, you are right, I should reactivate this.

I get about 50 to 100 emails a day (not counting auto-generated emails) and need to keep on top of that. Nostalgy is one of my mandatory tools: if it fails to work I'll drown in my emails. I would give up Thunderbird altogether and switch to something else, if it wasn't for Nostalgy. Keep up the good work!

This is the best add on for Thunderbird if you prefer keyboard to mouse and if you need to move messages to various folders. The developer Opto/Klaus is incredibly responsive and rescued Nostalgy from oblivion when Thunderbird changed dramatically. It is very simple to use out of the box and has routing rules for where to save messages that makes it even more effective and efficient.

Great add-on! I had been using the 'Quicker Filer' add-on [https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/quicker-filer/], but since the project was abandoned and it was about time for me to update Thunderbird to the newest version, I decided to use Nostalgy++ instead.

It does all that Quicker Filer does, and better.
There is only one thing I'm missing dearly though:
Quicker Filer would also provide a folder completion box inside the message compose/reply window. The message would then be automatically saved to the selected folder after the 'Send' button is pressed, thus saving me from having to go back to the 'Sent Mail' folder and saving the message using the 's' key.

Also, while having a folder selected in the folders pane, and doing any of the following, the folder completion box inside the resulting compose window would automatically be populated with that folder:
- click on 'Write' button to compose a new message inside that folder.
- click on 'Forward' or 'Reply' button of a message inside that folder.

Cheers.

I will think about that.

would this be interesting:

reply to a message in inbox. On send, move original message and reply to the folder of a rule? S would not be necessary for either of them

I had to live without Nostalgy for a few weeks after TB 78 was released, really appreciate the work to bring it back in the current version! I really hate having to reach for the mouse and right click on multiple submenus just to organise email properly... this add-on is awesome.

Extremely useful tool for filing emails in Thunderbird (and it does several other things besides, but that's mainly what I use it for.)
Re the latest update being broken by changes in Thunderbird (2.3.1 with Thunderbird 78.11.0) the "disable-enable" trick as described by Opto has saved me from going crazy the other day, so thanks! :-)
Edit: latest version is 2.38, and the "disable-enable" trick is no longer needed, for my environment at least (Win 10 on a fairly fast Lenovo P310 Xeon E3-1240v5 workstation)
It still has a few bugs, but I'm giving the developer 5/5 for his dedication to the job. :-)

Extremely useful for efficient use of Thunderbird.
Note: if you find that key bindings don't work, please reload the extension, this is a Thunderbird issue (see https://github.com/opto/nostalgy-xpi/issues/111 )
