This works perfectly with the current version of Thunderbird, so I no longer need to use a third-party program to send it to the tray.
You can specify when you want the tray icon to be utilised, e.g. when closing the program it can be set to instead go to the tray. It covers pretty much every scenario and use case. You can even specify if you want the minimise behaviour to apply to everything, or just the main program but not the message or composing windows, etc.
I can't understand why this isn't an in-built option in Thunderbird, it's so silly to require an add-on for such a simple thing.
Thank you to Ysard for resuscitating this add-on, it's greatly appreciated!

Could You please add support for NewMoon (a PaleMoon-clone for windows XP)
As former Mozilla addons developer I know and understand the issues concerning future compatibility of the addon.
Unfortunately I currently have no C++ development environment available, but I think it's not too hard to compile the nece3ssary DLL for you.
How much Dollors would you expect as a fee to do this?
I would pay in advance.
Hi, I'm not sure if Palemoon can still use extensions with embedded binaries. However, I will add this support for versions 27.* and 28.* but if a problem occurs, I encourage you to open an issue on the project GitHub :)

Works perfectly fine with Thunderbird 60.4.0 (64 bit) on Xubuntu 16.04

Great work yes, but I hope there is gonna be an option replacing the other important Addon "Minimize On Start and Close". I start TB when Windows starts (using TaskScheduler) and then I want TB being automatically minimized not manually. This option is missing.

Works on Windows 7 64bit, THB 60.3.3 (32bit). Very happy, as I need my email to be always open, but not on my taskbar all the time.

Thank God! TB60 killed Firetray. Cannot tell you how many times I have accidentally closed TB since then to miss out on new e-mails. This add-on works perfectly on W7_x64.

Excellent Work! Runs fine here on Win10_64, too! Thank you very much for the effort. Kudos for the fast maintenance.
Note to Mozilla:
If it ain't broken, don't fix it!

Works on CentOS 7.6 (Thunderbird 60.3.0) on MATE. Shows tray and minimizes properly.
My thanks to developer and I add my voice for Mozilla to sign off on this addon.

Works like a charm, wish Mozilla would finally review this so other people can find it more easily!
thanks so much to the creator!

Yes, you are right - 1.4.6 already fixes the problem. :)
I was originally testing with 1.4.4, which seemed not to like spaces in the path name.
Thanks again for keeping MinimizeToTray alive.

Works excellently and does exactly what I want. The options window resizes automatically when I try to tweak the settings, but that's only a minor (and often one-time) issue.

Thanks a lot for promptly reanimating this add-on. Works fine on Windows 10 1709 (64 bit) and Thunderbird 60.3.2 (32 bit).
