This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.1.1.1-signed).Hi, the new release should help ( if not completely fix ) the download problem you're having. Another release is coming shortly that should fix it across the board. Thanks!

I have tried all of the suggestions that I can find to fix this problem. However, I can't get anything to download. It starts to download then less than a second it says it is finished but the file is 0 mb. And the file will not play.

Problem: every file that I want to download from youtube as MP3 end up with XXX mb in size, as it download s video file and adds extension MP3..? What do to?
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.0.4.1-signed).Hi, Try uninstalling the plugin and reinstalling with 3.1.0 and trying a few downloads. If that still fails go to tools -> youtubeMP3Podcater -> Click the Troubleshooting Tab. You'll find a slider marked 'Debug Level'. Set it to 'ALL' and try a download. Then check your Home directory (/home/ in Linux, /Users, and in Windows you can go to Start -> Run and type in %HOME%). Look for a file called ffmpeg*.log, but instead of the * (star) it'll be a date, like "ffmpeg-20131225-124157.log" :). Send me this file. It'll tell me why the conversion is failing.

This is the ONLY Youtube MP3 add-on that works consistently, quickly and without hassle. Why can't any competitors match this? Anyway, good show.

I've looked high and low for a good youtube downloader to extract MP3s, and this one is the definitely the best! It's super easy to use, has a lot of options to let you customize your download, and is very fast at downloading. I really love the snipping tool that lets you cut out the talking at the beginning and end of videos. You can also change the title, artist, and album before you download, so when you upload the file to iTunes, it's already formatted correctly. There aren't any ads or annoying pop-ups, either. I'm very impressed that this add-on has the most options for customizing your download that I've seen, but is also the simplest and quickest to use.

Well, i can download the mp3 very easy but there is onething i can't do.
about the time start and stop of the mp3 file i want download, i see an option that can trim the mp3 and download it.
but after i chose a time of start and stop of the file, i click to download mp3 format file, but what it appear is the whole file.
The video i watch was about 30', and its size was about 200mb, i just need an 1' of it, waiting for download an 200mb file and trim it after download is so troublesome.
I hope you can help me answer this.
btw my english is not good, so sorry if it hard to understand.

I've had this for the last couple of versions and it doesn't do much for me. Since it auto updated to the latest, I tested it on a 46 sec youtube video and the footprint was 6.7 megs. That was at 32 kbps quality. After several minutes, I finally stopped it half way on dial up speeds. The same file on Dirpy took less than ten seconds total 364k file size at 64kbps. How is this latest version so good?
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.0.2.1-signed.1-signed).The MP3 files are actually much smaller than what Firefox reports :). That's because YoutubeMP3Podcaster downloads the video and converts it to MP3 directly on your PC. That's necessary because youtube is a video site (natch). If you look at the actual file vs what's displayed in Firefox you'll find the real size is about 1/5 what you see in your FF download manager :)

you can even edit vedio's info by it!
but it can't download mp3... I've setup "YoutubeMP3Podcaster-Windows-3.0.2.xpi". it still showing a message: "Unicode file path detected, Download failed. Please go to Tools->Options->YoutubeMP3Podcaster->Troubleshooting, enable default location for temporary files, and set it to a folder with only letters a-z, A-Z or numbers 0-9"
-------------------------------------------------------------
I got it! coz I didn't find the folder!
(1) open the menu bar.
(2) "Tools->YoutubeMP3Podcaster->Options" NOT "Tools->Options->YoutubeMP3Podcaster"
thanks for answer! I've solve this problem. :)
Hi, this is a limitation of Firefox :). Firefox needs ffmpeg to make the mp3, and when YoutubeMP3Podcaster calls out to ffmpeg it can't find the original video to make the MP3 with if the path to the file has unicode.
As the pop up mentions there is a work around. Under Tools -> Options -> outubeMP3Podcaster->Troubleshooting you can set a temporary folder to save the MP3 to. Put a check mark in the box and make sure the path to the folder has only ASCII (a-z, A-Z or 0-9) in the box next to the checkmark.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm still trying to find a better solution, but it's tough because of how file system security works :(.
